Pseudotropheus zebra

Pseudotropheus zebra, also known as the Zebra Malawi Cichlid, originates from Lake Malawi, Africa. Its body has seven to eight bars with two to four orange egg-shaped spots on the anal fin. The coloration of the zebra can vary widely. The most common is the Blue variety, others include the Red, Albino, Golden Marble, OB, Red-fin, etc... The OB zebra has a yellow background with many Black blotches of different shapes and sizes placed randomly across the body. The zebras are available at Trop Aquarium with nice solid colours at a size of about 3-4cm.

Keeping the Zebras is not difficult as long as the water is maintained at the appropriate parameters & feeding is no problem, as they feed on usual foods.

These fish are mouthbrooders, the female will spawn, takes the unfertilized eggs into her mouth and follow closely behind the male until he releases the sperm to fertilize the eggs. The female will incubate the eggs for about 3 weeks, before releasing the fry. Brood sizes can range from 20 to 80 eggs. Sexual maturity is reached at about nine months of age.

They suits best together with other cichlids, like the Labeotropheus, Melanochromis and the Pseudotropheus.

Sizes available : SM, M, ML, L, XL & SUPER.
