Bosemani rainbow

The Bosemani Rainbow originated from New Guinea. they are one of the most brilliantly coloured fish available. The front half of this fish is blue-gray, and the rear half a brilliant yellow orange. Between the two colors are several narrow vertical stripes of deep blue-gray. The yellow orange fins are strikingly contrasted by white edges on the dorsal fin. Both males and females carry this beautiful coloration, although females are somewhat more subdued.

When breeding, the tank needs to be densely filled with floating plants, bunched fine-leaf plants or java moss, for the parents to deposit their eggs. Spawning takes place with one male to several females. Water quality has to be maintained and pH at around 8.0. It is en egg layer that spawns throughout a number of days. Well fed parents do not eat the eggs or fry, but it is preferable to remove the parents after a week It takes about 2 weeks for the fry to hatch.

This schooling fish should be housed in a aquarium moderately decorated with rocks, live plants and driftwood.. They require plenty of open swimming space, as these are active fish. These peaceful and schooling fish mixes well with same sized active fish, therefore not recommended to be put with slow moving fish.

It is best kept with other peaceful fishes, such as barbs, guppies, platies, swordtails, danios, loaches, plecos, rasboras, tetras, corydoras, etc
