Platydoras Costatus
The Platydoras Costatus originated from the Amazon River, but now they are also successfully bred in Asia. The Platydoras Costatus is also known as the 'Talking" Catfish, as it has the ability to make clearly audible noises mostly at night, by grinding their pectoral fin bone in its "socket".

This fish is very active in the night, it is very timid and it's best to have hiding places for it to hide, such as caves or pipes. It seldom show itself out in the day, hiding most of the time in caves.

Breeding of Platydoras Costatus in aquarium is possible by "inducing raining" season to the aquarium with the help of a large trickle filter or internal spray bar. The Platydoras Costatus are bubble nest builders and the male will guard its eggs.

It is generally a good community fish, but it's best kept with similar size fishes. It eats almost everything, including small fishes that fit into its mouth. It is a territorial fish but is not aggressive towards other fishes.
